Overview[edit | edit source]
Cagiva K3 50
The K series consists of two off-road motorcycles produced
by the Cagiva motorcycle manufacturer ; of displacement 50cc K3 and
125 cc K7, derive from the Cagiva Cruiser and are flanked by the Cagiva
Super City from supermotard and the Cagiva N 90 a desert motorbike.
The K3 and K7, much slimmer than the previous "dakariane"
versions, were conceived to compete with Aprilia RX and Gilera RC, but
compared to these they obtained a much lower success, probably due to the
unusual aesthetics, but also of the lower technical equipment.
The K3 version, very similar to the top displacement model,
was produced from 1991 to 1993 .
The K7 is very similar to the sister Super City, and was produced from 1990
to 1992 .
This bike mounts the engine block of the Myth , following the same changes
over the years, only the expansion was different and could not be otherwise
given the type of motion; unlike the Super City that at the end of the
expansion (pin) was divided into two, in order to have two silencers , the
K7 has only one pin and silencer.
The thermal unit used the same cylinders of the Mito (in 1990 it adopts the
engine of the Lucky Explorer model), while for the piston it has always used
the bifascia double piston code 8A0054888 .
The peculiarity of the K3 and K7 (first versions) was
undoubtedly the "hybrid" front, with a number plate at the top of the fork
in cross style, combined with a "half dome" without a windshield and a small
tubular protection in the same color frame. Later a traditional dome was
adopted. Other particular aspects of the bike that make it differ from the
previous models, are the normal forks with the elastic protection for the
stem, the die-cast instead of boxed fork (only for the 125). In addition,
the lighthouse is double and round, exactly like those of the Cagiva Elefant
bifaro or the Tamanaco / N90, while the rest of the bike is unchanged.
