Overview[edit | edit source]

Cagiva Mito 125 Special Editions

In 1995 the bike was restyled by Massimo Tamburini with similar lines to the then new Ducati 916, a design he also penned.  The similarity is particularly visible in the front and rear fairings. Basically a racing 125cc bike for the road, the Mito packages gorgeous, big-bike styling, with a high-specification sportsbike chassis and engine. Its single-cylinder two-stroke engine produces around 22kW (30bhp) - a typical output for this class, but still impressive in bhp per litre terms at 179kW (240bhp) per litre. The chassis is also typical, if well-appointed. A twin-spar aluminum frame is more than stiff enough for the Mito's power, and the upside-down front forks and rear monoshock are well-damped, if a little soft for heavier riders. The gull-wing-type swingarm is copied from GP bikes, and allows clearance for the large expansion chamber exhaust.
