Drive[edit | edit source]
The bike has a 2w/4w shaft driven with Visco-Lok front differential transmission. Power was moderated via the Automatic CVT.
Chassis[edit | edit source]
It came with a 27 x 11 x 12 front tire and a 27 x 11 x 12 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via Dual 214 mm ventilated disc brakes with hydraulic twin-piston calipers in the front and a Single 214 mm ventilated disc brake with hydraulic twin-piston caliper in the rear. The front suspension was a Double A-arm with dive-control geometry / Motion Control shocks while the rear was equipped with a Torsional Trailing arm Independent (TTI) with external sway bar/ Motion Control shocks. The Commander DPS 1000 was fitted with a 2.64 Gallon (10.00 Liters) fuel tank. The wheelbase was 75.79 inches (1925 mm) long.

The 2012 Can-Am Commander DPS 1000 brings the convenience of power steering to the base liter-class Commander. Offering so much more than traditional power steering, the dynamic system of the DPS Commander 1000 comes with three assistance levels, thus providing the most precise and less fatiguing directional control regardless of how rough the surface is.
Multiple storage compartments, some of them watertight, ensure you can actually haul quite a lot of gear with you, for work-related outdoor tasks or for longer adventures far from the asphalt, The Rotax v-twin engine is coupled to a dual-range automatic gearbox making operation easy, especially with the selectable 2/4WD.
