The engine was a liquid cooled in-line four, four-stroke.

Drive[edit | edit source]

The bike has a 6-speed transmission. Power was moderated via the wet plate.

Chassis[edit | edit source]

It came with a 120/60-zr17 front tire and a 160/60-zr17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via double disc in the front and a single disc in the rear. The ZZ-R 500 was fitted with a 4.76 Gallon (18.00 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 478.4 pounds (217.0 Kg).
