The Yamaha FZ-09 was a Liquid-cooled DOHC inline 3-cylinder, four-stroke, 12 valves Naked motorcycle produced by Yamaha between 2014 and 2017. Max torque was 44.99 ft/lbs (61.0 Nm) @ 8480 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 115.06 HP (85.8 KW) @ 10120 RPM.
Engine[edit | edit source]
The engine was a liquid cooled Liquid-cooled DOHC inline 3-cylinder, four-stroke, 12 valves. A 78.7mm bore x 78.7mm stroke result in a displacement of just 847.0 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a double overhead cams/twin cam (dohc).
Drive[edit | edit source]
The bike has a 6-Speed manual transmission. Power was moderated via the Wet multiplate.
Chassis[edit | edit source]
It came with a 120/70ZR17 front tire and a 180/55ZR17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via Dual hydraulic disc 298mm in the front and a Single hydraulic disc 245mm in the rear. The front suspension was a 41mm inverted fork while the rear was equipped with a Single shock. The FZ-09 was fitted with a 3.7 Gallon (14.00 Liters) fuel tank. The wheelbase was 56.69 inches (1440 mm) long.
2014 Yamaha FZ-09[edit | edit source]
The 2013 FZ-09 is a premiere in Yamaha's line-up as it brings the 3-cylinder engine the manufacturer showed at the 2012 EICMA. While the new bike to be powered by that engine was a well-kept secret until the launch of the machine in the summer of 2013, it looks like this particular power unit will be used in more motorcycles.
The FZ-09 boasts the Crossplane Crankshaft, a special architecture which provides a more linear torque deployment for a more predictable throttle response and more precise riding. The 2013 Yamaha FZ-09 is loaded with the latest technologies, such as chip-controlled throttle and fly-by-wire, triple engine mappings, high-performance fuel injection, and revised ergonomic for attaining the top-class handling which is rightfully expected from such a naked beast.
2017 Yamaha FZ-09[edit | edit source]
The FZ-09, which replaces the FZ8 in Yamaha’s sport lineup, is a completely new model. In the tech presentation before handing over the keys, Yamaha described the new FZ as “a naked sportbike that combines an emotional performance character and fundamental value.” Emotional performance comes via its surprising Inline Triple. This aspects make the FZ-09 one of the most intriguing models to debut this year.
