2008 Ducati 1098R[edit | edit source]
The "R"-suffixed version of the Ducati 1098 is the closest thing to a race-bike you can own, this side of custom-built machines. Unlike the S or the base model, this machine has received a boost in its power output, leading to a total of 180 horsepower and 134 Nm of torque, and has been fitted with traction control, sand-cast crankcases, titanium valves and con-rods, and its dry weight has been reduced to a mere 169 kg (373 lbs), giving this machine one of the best torque-to-weight ratios in its class.
2009 Ducati 1098R[edit | edit source]
The 2009 MY Ducati 1098R has, at its heart, a liquid-cooled, four-stroke, 1198cc, 90-degree V-twin desmodromic powerplant, mated to a six-speed manual transmission, and can reach a maximum power output of 180 horsepower and 134 Nm of torque.
Also, it comes with features and technologies such as traction control, ABS, DDA-ready, a MotoGP-derived digital instrumentation panel, forged-aluminum Marchessini wheels, dual exhaust mufflers mounted under the rear tail, Brembo monobloc brakes and an Ohlins suspension package and steering damper.
