The Suzuki GSF1200 was a standard was a four-stroke, 4-cylinder, DOHC 16 valve, air/oil cooled motorcycle made by Suzuki from 1997 to 2006 and more commonly known as the Suzuki Bandit. It could reach a top speed of 143 mph (230 km/h). Max torque was 67.86 ft/lbs (92.0 Nm) @ 6500 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 98.03 HP (73.1 KW) @ 8500 RPM.

Engine

The engine was a air cooled four-stroke, 4-cylinder, DOHC 16 valve, air/oil cooled with TSCC. A 78.7mm bore x 78.7mm stroke result in a displacement of just 1157.0 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a double overhead cams/twin cam (dohc).

Drive

The bike has a 5 speed, manual transmission. Power was moderated via the Wet multi-disc, manual.

Chassis

It came with a 120/60-ZR17 front tire and a 180/55-ZR17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via dual 310mm discs in the front and a single 240mm disc in the rear. The front suspension was a Telescopic, oil damped, preload adjustable while the rear was equipped with a Link-type suspension, 7-way adjustable preload, 4-way adjustable rebound. The GSF1200S Bandit was fitted with a 5.28 Gallon (20.00 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 485.02 pounds (220.0 Kg). The wheelbase was 56.3 inches (1430 mm) long.

2000 Suzuki GSF1200S Bandit

The 2000 MY GSF1200S Bandit is a brawny naked machine for both commuting and long-range cruises. Exceedingly nimble thanks to is 98 hp in-line 4 engine, the big Bandit sports suspensions tuned for a sporty feel, but they are also comfort-focused. Cast wheels, disc brakes, a miniature fairing in the upper area and a fly screen add to the package, while the two-up one-piece seat offers plenty of real estate for a passenger.

The 2001 MY GSF1200 Bandit is the properly naked version of the 1200S Bandit, and therefore lacks the half-fairing and windscreen which add some extra weather protection for those riding the latter. On the tech side, the GSF1200 Bandit has also received the tweaks its sister shows off: reduced rake, trail and wheelbase, revised suspensions and new calipers, a new center stands, bigger fuel tank.

The engine received new camshaft timing, new carbs with throttle position sensor, a higher capacity clutch and a larger oil cooler. The max power reaches 98 hp at 8500 rpm.

2001 Suzuki GSF1200S Bandit

The 2001 MY GSF1200S Bandit has been restyled with a more aerodynamic fairing, as skimpy as it is. The headlights have been also revised, together with a taller windscreen, a new sear and whole tail section, with modern and lighter instrumentation in the dashboard and added functions.

Apart from this, you're also in for a revised chassis with a shorter rake and trail, and a smaller wheelbase for improved handling, complemented by some suspension tweaking and new calipers.

2002 Suzuki GSF1200 Bandit
