The BMW HP2 Sport was a air-cooled, 4-stroke, boxer twin cylinder Sport Bike motorcycle produced by BMW between 2008 and 2012. Max torque was 84.82 ft/lbs (115.0 Nm) @ 6000 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 133.03 HP (99.2 KW) @ 8750 RPM.

Engine[edit | edit source]

The engine was a oil & air cooled air-cooled, 4-stroke, boxer twin cylinder. A 101.6mm bore x 101.6mm stroke result in a displacement of just 1170.0 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a double overhead cams/twin cam (dohc).

Drive[edit | edit source]

The bike has a 6-speed, manual transmission. Power was moderated via the dry, single plate, hydraulic.

Chassis[edit | edit source]

It came with a 120/70xZR17 front tire and a 190/55xZR17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via dual 320 mm rotors in the front and a single 265 mm fixed rotor in the rear. The front suspension was a Telelever, Ohlins while the rear was equipped with a Paralever, Ohlins. The HP2 Sport was fitted with a 4.23 Gallon (16.00 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 392.42 pounds (178.0 Kg). The wheelbase was 58.5 inches (1486 mm) long.

The 2011 MY BMW HP2 Sport is limited to only 400 units, and is directly derived from its race motorcycle. At its heart lies a powerful, air-cooled, four-stroke, 1170cc, boxer twin cylinder powerhoise paired to a six-speed manual transmission with a quickshift function, and can produce 133 horsepower and 115 Nm of torque. It features race-derived elements, such as carbon fiber bodywork, Ohlins suspension components, both in the Telelever front suspension and in the Paralever rear suspension, and an exhaust system that has been placed underneath the engine and ends under the seat bench, for improved cornering abilities. It tips the scale at only 178 kg(dry), making it one of the lightest machines in its class.
