The Ducati 1199 Panigale S was a Superquadro L-twin cylinder, 4 valve per cylinder, Desmodromic, liquid cooled Sport Bike motorcycle produced by Ducati between 2012 and 2014. Max torque was 97.36 ft/lbs (132.0 Nm) @ 9000 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 194.05 HP (144.7 KW) @ 10750 RPM.

Engine[edit | edit source]

The engine was a liquid cooled Superquadro L-twin cylinder, 4 valve per cylinder, Desmodromic, liquid cooled. A 111.8mm bore x 111.8mm stroke result in a displacement of just 1198.0 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a desmodromic valve control.

Drive[edit | edit source]

The bike has a straight cut gears transmission. Power was moderated via the slipper and self-servo wet multiplate clutch with hydraulic control.

Chassis[edit | edit source]

It came with a 120/70 ZR17 front tire and a 200/55 ZR17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via 2 x 330mm semi-floating discs, radially mounted Brembo Monobloc M50 4-piston callipers, ABS in the front and a 245mm disc, 2-piston calliper, ABS in the rear. The front suspension was a Ohlins NIX30 43mm with TiN, fully adjustable usd fork, electronic compression and rebound damping adjustment while the rear was equipped with a fully adjustable Ohlins TTX36 unit, electronic compression and rebound damping adjustment, adjustable linkage: Progressive/fla. The 1199 Panigale S was fitted with a 4.49 Gallon (17.00 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 361.56 pounds (164.0 Kg). The wheelbase was 56.61 inches (1438 mm) long.

The 2012 MY Ducati 1199 Panigale S is one of the most sought after sportbikes from the House of Bologna up to date. Unlike the base model, the "S"-suffixed ones comes with a race-grade Ohlins suspension package, an Ohlins steering damper, Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Quick Shift (DQS), Ducati Electronic Suspension (DEC) and a ride-by-wire system with three riding modes.

In the engine department it is powered by a liquid-cooled, four-stroke, 1199cc, 90-degree V-Twin powerplant, paired to a six-speed manual transmission, and can produce a claimed 195 horsepower and 132 Nm of torque.

The 2013 MY Ducati 1199 Panicale S Tricolore has been released to celebrate the "Made in Borgo Panigale" techological excellence and mark the start of a new Ducati Superbike era. As opposed to the base Panigale S, it features improvements such as the Ducati performance exhaust system, ABS as standard and an all new telemetry, housed in the latest-generation DDA+, which also utilizes GPS signals, plus a special Tricolour livery.

Also, the "S" suffix means Öhlins electronic 43mm front forks with adjustable Öhlins steering damper and an Öhlins electronic TTX suspension unit on the rear, lightweight Marchesini forged and machined wheels, plus the carbon fiber mudguard and the full LED lighting.

The 2013 MY Ducati 1199 Panigale S has been designed as a more powerful version of the Panigale, with features such as the full LED headlights, a carbon fiber front mudguard, Marchesini machine-finished wheels, Ducati Electronic Suspension (DES) and adjustable Öhlins electronic 43mm front forks with adjustable Öhlins steering damper and an Öhlins electronic TTX suspension unit on the rear.

In the tech/engine department it comes with the powerful, liquid-cooled, 1198cc, Superquadro L-twin powerhouse with four Desmodromically actuated valves per cylinder, that produces 196 horsepower and 132 Nm of torque. Technology-wise, besides the DES, characteristic to the "S"-suffixed model, it features DTC, DQS, EBC and RbW which provide the Ducati Riding Modes.

The 2014 MY Ducati 1199 Panigale S boasts, as opposed to the base 1199 Panigale, superior performance and maneuverability, thanks to the addition of Marchesini machine-finished wheels, Öhlins electronic 43mm front forks with adjustable Öhlins steering damper and an Öhlins electronic TTX suspension unit on the rear, as well as a carbon fiber mudguard and full LED lighting. In the technology department, it has the Ducati Electronic Suspension (DES) as an addition to the ABS, Ducati Traction Control, Ducati Quick Shift, Electronic Braking System, ride-by-wire and the three selectable Ducati Riding Modes that it inherits from the base model. Also, beside the classic Ducati red, it comes with a new, more aggressive Dark Stealth color scheme.
