The Honda VT700C was a cruiser type motorcycle made by Honda beginning in 1984 due the 1980s motorcycle tariff. It is more commonly known as the Honda Shadow 700. It replaced the Honda VT750C. Max torque was 45.8 ft/lbs (62.1 Nm) @ 6000 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 60.75 HP (45.3 KW) @ 7500 RPM.


Engine[edit | edit source]

The engine was a liquid cooled v2, four-stroke. A 76.5mm bore x 75.5mm stroke result in a displacement of just 694.5 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a single overhead cams (sohc).

Drive[edit | edit source]

The bike has a 6-speed transmission. Power was moderated via the wet, multi plate.

Chassis[edit | edit source]

It came with a 110/90-19 62h front tire and a 140/90-15 70h rear tire. Stopping was achieved via double disc. 2-piston calipers in the front and a expanding brake (drum brake) in the rear. The front suspension was a telescopic fork while the rear was equipped with a swingarm / shock absorber. The VT700C was fitted with a 3.3 Gallon (12.50 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 465.18 pounds (211.0 Kg). The wheelbase was 60.04 inches (1525 mm) long.

The VT700C'84 Shadow was sold in 1984 in one of two colors: Candy Scorpio Red or Black. The headlight, instruments, and front fender are chrome. The headlight was round. The backrest was standard equipment. The engine had hydraulic valve adjustment. There were two plugs to each cylinder. The engine was a 694cc SOHC 3-valve liquid-cooled V-2 linked to a 6-speed and shaft drive. The serial number began JH2RC190*EM000007.

The VT700C'85 Shadow was sold in 1985 in one of two colors: Candy Glory Red or Black. The engine side case covers were polished. The headlight, instruments, and front fender are chrome. The headlight was round. The backrest was standard equipment. The engine had hydraulic valve adjustment. There were two plugs to each cylinder. The engine was a 694cc SOHC 3-valve liquid-cooled V-2 linked to a 6-speed and shaft drive. The serial number began JH2RC190*FM100001.

The VT700C'86 Shadow was sold in 1986 in one of two colors: Candy Brilliant Red or Black. The tank and fenders were the basic color (red or black); but the side covers were chrome. The "HONDA" and wing decal on the tank and the "SHADOW" decal on the side cover were speckled gold and orange. The "HONDA" graphic on the right engine cover was black. The engine had hydraulic valve adjustment. There were two plugs to each cylinder. The engine was a 694cc SOHC 3-valve liquid-cooled V-2 linked to a 6-speed and shaft drive. The serial number began JH2RC190*GM200001.

The VT700C'87 was sold in 1987 in one of two colors: Candy Glory Red or Black. The "HONDA" tank decal was black with a gold outline. The wing decal was brown, orange, and yellow. The "HONDA" graphic on the right engine cover was unpainted. The engine had hydraulic valve adjustment. There were two plugs to each cylinder. The engine was a 694cc SOHC 3-valve liquid-cooled V-2 linked to a 6-speed and shaft drive. The serial number began JH2RC190*HA305001.
