The bike has a 6-speed, return transmission. Power was moderated via the Wet multi-disc, manual.

It came with a 120/70ZR17M/C (58W) front tire and a 190/50ZR17M/C (73W) rear tire. Stopping was achieved via Dual semi-floating 300 mm petal discs Dual radial-mount, opposed 4-piston in the front and a Single 250 mm petal disc Single-piston in the rear. The front suspension was a 41 mm inverted fork with stepless compression and rebound damping and spring preload adjustability while the rear was equipped with a Horizontal Back-link, gas-charged, with stepless rebound damping and cam-style spring preload adjustability. The Z1000SX City was fitted with a 1.32 Gallon (5.00 Liters) fuel tank. The wheelbase was 56.89 inches (1445 mm) long.
