The engine was a air cooled two cylinder boxer, four-stroke. A 101.0mm bore x 73.0mm stroke result in a displacement of just 1170.0 cubic centimeters.

The bike has a 5-speed transmission.

Chassis[edit | edit source]

It came with a 100/90-zr18 front tire and a 170/80-zr15 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via dual disc in the front and a single disc in the rear. The R1200 Independent was fitted with a 4.49 Gallon (17.00 Liters) fuel tank. The wheelbase was 64.96 inches (1650 mm) long.
