The engine was a oil & air cooled in-line four, four-stroke. A 72.5mm bore x 66.0mm stroke result in a displacement of just 1189.0 cubic centimeters.

Stopping was achieved via double disc in the front and a single disc in the rear. The Z1100GP was fitted with a 5.7 Gallon (21.57 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 520.29 pounds (236.0 Kg). The wheelbase was 60.63 inches (1540 mm) long.
