The Yamaha XJ700XS was a in-line four, four-stroke standard produced by Yamaha between 1985 and 1986. It could reach a top speed of 135 mph (217 km/h). Max torque was 49.94 ft/lbs (67.7 Nm) @ 8000 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 84.22 HP (62.8 KW) @ 9500 RPM.

Engine

The engine was a liquid cooled in-line four, four-stroke. A 68.0mm bore x 48.0mm stroke result in a displacement of just 697.3 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a double overhead cams/twin cam (dohc).

Drive

The bike has a 5-speed transmission. Power was moderated via the wet/multi-disc.

Chassis

It came with a 100/90-19 front tire and a 130/90-16 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via double disc in the front and a expanding brake (drum brake) in the rear. The front suspension was a telescopic fork while the rear was equipped with a swing arm w/ coil springs. The XJ700XS was fitted with a 3.43 Gallon (13.00 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 473.99 pounds (215.0 Kg). The wheelbase was 59.84 inches (1520 mm) long.

The Yamaha XJ 700 Maxim is a mid-size motorcycle manufactured by the Yamaha Motor Company and introduced in 1980 as the Maxim and produced through 1989. The XJ 700 Maxim comes equipped with Four cylinder, air cooled, twin cam 700 cc engine. The Maxim-X lays to ruin the dichotomy of style and function: More significant even than its 20-valve technology and high-performance numbers is its demonstration that trendy fashion need and versatility and that power and high-style need not be at odds. With the Maxim-X, Yamaha has rounded the corner and headed back with function as the central issue, back to the virtues that remain long after the glitter has lost its sheen.
