The Yamaha XJ700XS was a in-line four, four-stroke standard produced by Yamaha between 1985 and 1986. It could reach a top speed of 135 mph (217 km/h). Max torque was 49.94 ft/lbs (67.7 Nm) @ 8000 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 84.22 HP (62.8 KW) @ 9500 RPM.

Engine

The engine was a liquid cooled in-line four, four-stroke. A 68.0mm bore x 48.0mm stroke result in a displacement of just 697.3 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a double overhead cams/twin cam (dohc).

Drive

The bike has a 5-speed transmission. Power was moderated via the wet/multi-disc.

Chassis

It came with a 100/90-19 front tire and a 130/90-16 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via double disc in the front and a expanding brake (drum brake) in the rear. The front suspension was a telescopic fork while the rear was equipped with a swing arm w/ coil springs. The XJ700XS was fitted with a 3.43 Gallon (13.00 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 473.99 pounds (215.0 Kg). The wheelbase was 59.84 inches (1520 mm) long.
