Indian racer in the second decade of the 20th century, who also made a speciality of endurance record attempts, which he completed on Ace, Excelsior, Henderson and Indian bikes. According to author Harry Sucher, he never did the same for Harley-Davidson because Walter Davidson wouldn't agree to pay his standard fees. Also co-designed (with Everett deLong) a 90-ci (1475-cc) V4 that was tried in an Indian Powerplus frame. DeLong later built a four-cylinder prototype for Harley-Davidson, which the Board rejected.
