The Aprilia RSV Mille R was a liquid-cooled, four-stroke, V-Twin, DOHC, 4 valves per cylinder Sport Bike motorcycle produced by Aprilia between 1998 and 2011. It could reach a top speed of 168 mph (270 km/h). Max torque was 78.92 ft/lbs (107.0 Nm) @ 7500 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 142.95 HP (106.6 KW) @ 10000 RPM.

Engine[edit]

The engine was a oil & air cooled liquid-cooled, four-stroke, V-Twin, DOHC, 4 valves per cylinder. A 96.5mm bore x 96.5mm stroke result in a displacement of just 998.0 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a double overhead cams/twin cam (dohc).

Drive[edit]

The bike has a 6-speed transmission. The final drive was via chain. Power was moderated via the multi-plate clutch in oil bath with patented ppc power-assisted hydraulic control. metal braided clutch line. radial master cylinders with 15 mm piston..

Chassis[edit]

It came with a 120/70 ZR17 front tire and a 190/50 ZR17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via dual 320mm discs, 4-piston calipers in the front and a single 220mm disc, 2-piston caliper in the rear. The front suspension was a 43mm Ohlins upside-down fork while the rear was equipped with a Sachs adjustable monoshock with APS. The RSV Mille R was fitted with a 4.76 Gallon (18.00 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 416.67 pounds (189.0 Kg). The wheelbase was 55.79 inches (1417 mm) long.

The 1999 MY Aprilia RSV Mille is a superbike with a more than reasonable price tag, built to rival big names like Ducati. The name "Mille" means 1000 in italian, and comes from its 998cc, in-line-four engine. It has been tweaked for a sportbike like feel, with good power delivery at mid and high rpm.

The Mille is a more streetable version of the Superbike machines, tamed a bit in order to make it safer, yet still being fully capable to destroy the competition on a track Sunday.

The 2000 MY Aprilia RSV Mille SP is a limited edition machine, restricted to only 150 units, that has been built as a "homologation" machine, to allow the House of Noale to race in the World Superbike Chamionship. And even though it looks almost identical to the base RSV Mille, every internal part has been tweaked and tuned for a higher level of performance, including the engine, which has a smaller bore and stroke, which allow higher revs to be achieved, and gives a maximum power output of 145 horsepower and 113 Nm of torque. It also boasts an Ohlins Racing suspension package and steering damper, a carbon-fiber aerodynamic fairing and a Brembo braking system.
