The engine was a oil & air cooled air/oil-cooled, four-stroke, boxer twin cylinder, 4 valves per cylinder. A 101.6mm bore x 101.6mm stroke result in a displacement of just 1170.0 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a single overhead cams (sohc).

Drive[edit | edit source]

The bike has a gears transmission. Power was moderated via the dry, single plate, hydraulic.

Chassis[edit | edit source]

It came with a 100/90 - ZR 18 front tire and a 170/80 - ZR 15 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via dual 305 mm discs, 4-piston fixed calipers in the front and a single 285 mm disc, 2-piston caliper in the rear. The front suspension was a BMW Motorrad Telelever while the rear was equipped with a BMW Motorrad Monolever. The R 1200 C Montauk was fitted with a 4.62 Gallon (17.50 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 526.9 pounds (239.0 Kg). The wheelbase was 65.0 inches (1651 mm) long.
